Liquid ventilation: current status.
نویسندگان
چکیده
1. List the potential medical applications of liquid-assisted ventilation (LAV). 2. Describe the properties of perfluorochemical liquids that are important for their use in liquid ventilation. 3. Describe the potential benefits of LAV in respiratory distress syndrome, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and aspiration syndromes. 4. Delineate specific nonrespiratory applications of LAV.

Introduction: Efficiency of hoods for local exhaust ventilation system is influenced by hood geometry, its situation relative to the process and the air volume exhausted by it. The aim of this study was to present a simple and practical method based on the standards for assessment of potential problems of ventilation system in a steel making company. Material and Method: In this cross-sect...

Introduction: Adherence to the design values and ventilation standards (VS) after installing and also maintaining continuous work of ventilation system with maximum performance throughout its life are amongst the reasons of ventilation systems monitoring. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate performance of local exhaust ventilation system for control of dust by measuring the operati...
متن کاملUsing liquid ventilation to improve lung function in patients with respiratory distress syndrome: a comprehensive review of the literature.
This article is a review of the research findings on the subject of liquid ventilation and how it has shown to improve lung function in patients with respiratory distress syndrome. An overview of the physiology behind the success of liquid ventilation, including current research outcomes, is presented. The literature documenting research data was obtained through an internet search of articles ...
متن کاملThe management of acute respiratory failure.
The mortality rate of severe respiratory failure in most centers remains 60% to 90% with conventional pulmonary support techniques. Recent advances in the physiologic management of patients with acute respiratory failure include optimizing systemic oxygen delivery as reflected by continuous mixed-venous saturation monitoring, avoidance of the damaging effects of high inflation pressures and vol...
متن کاملLiquid ventilation in the preterm neonate.
Background. The intratracheal administration of a perfluorocarbon liquid during continuous positivepressure ventilation (partial liquid ventilation) improves lung function in animals with surfactant deficiency. Whether partial liquid ventilation is effective in the treatment of infants with severe respiratory distress syndrome is not known. Methods. We studied the efficacy of partial liquid ven...
